NEET 2026 cut-off, and what your marks mean for rank

From NTA’s result of 16 July 2026 for the re-exam held on 21 June. NTA does not publish a marks-vs-rank table, so this page shows only what it did publish: the qualifying cut-off and how many candidates scored above each mark. Last checked 29 October 2026.

Marks and rank

How many scored above each mark.

A rank is the number of candidates with more marks, plus one. So the count of candidates at or above a score is the worst All India Rank that score could get. Ties are broken by NTA’s rules, so a rank can be a little better than the count.

Questions

About the NEET cut-off.

What was the NEET 2026 cut-off?

213 out of 720 for General and EWS candidates (the 50th percentile), and 177 for OBC, SC and ST candidates (the 40th percentile). These are the qualifying marks; the marks needed for an MBBS seat in counselling are much higher and depend on the college, quota and category.

Does NTA publish marks vs rank for NEET?

No. NTA publishes the qualifying cut-off and, in the press note, how many candidates scored above certain marks. Any marks-vs-rank table elsewhere is an estimate. This page shows only what NTA published: for example, 10,160 candidates scored 600 or more in 2026, so a score of 600 meant an All India Rank of about 10,160 or better.

Why was the 2026 cut-off higher than 2025?

The cut-off is a percentile, so it moves with how everyone scored. The 2026 re-exam produced higher scores across the board than 2025, so the 50th percentile fell at 213 instead of 144.

What is the qualifying percentile?

The 50th percentile for General and EWS, the 45th for General PwBD, and the 40th for OBC, SC and ST (including PwBD). Qualifying makes a candidate eligible for counselling; it does not by itself give a seat.
