Aligarh Muslim University uses several routes for bachelor's courses, not one exam. M.B.B.S., B.D.S., B.P.T. and B.U.M.S. go through NEET, many B.A. and B.Sc. courses use AMU's own admission test, and a smaller list uses CUET.

Is JEE Main used for AMU B.Tech?
No, not in 2026-27. AMU B.Tech used its own admission test. The paper has 100 objective questions for 100 marks on Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. You need at least 50 percent in aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12, or at least 50 percent in an engineering diploma. The 2026 test was on 19 April 2026 at 10:00 AM, at Aligarh, Lucknow, Srinagar, Kolkata, Patna and Kozhikode.
How do the NEET courses work?
Selection is through NEET-UG from among candidates registered for it. For M.B.B.S. and B.D.S., you need Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and at least 50 percent in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. You must be at least 17 by 31 December of the admission year. The intake printed in the guide is 145 for M.B.B.S. and 35 plus 10 self-financed for B.D.S.
B.U.M.S. also has a language condition. If you did not pass Urdu, Arabic or Persian in Class 10 or Class 12, you study Urdu, Arabic and logic during the first professional year.
How do the CUET courses work?
AMU's guide sets out four steps. Register for the course in the CUET process, sit the Domain, General or Language papers AMU names for the course, fill in AMU's own form at amucontrollerexams.com with your CUET application number, and join counselling if shortlisted.
The guide names cuet.samarth.ac.in as the CUET website. The National Testing Agency's bulletin for the same year says registration is at cuet.nta.nic.in. Go by the NTA's address and confirm with AMU if you are unsure.
How does AMU's own test work?

Across AMU's tests, a wrong answer costs 25 percent of the marks for that question, with stated exceptions such as Nursing. You must score at least 20 percent to be eligible for admission.
When were forms open, and what did they cost?
Courses with an AMU test mostly opened on 1 February 2026 and closed on 28 February, or 7 March with a Rs. 300 late fee. CUET-based courses stayed open until 5 April 2026, or 12 April with the late fee. Processing charges were Rs. 750 to Rs. 1,150, depending on the course. For example, B.Tech. was Rs. 1,050 and B.Arch. was Rs. 1,150. The charges are not refunded.
Is there an age limit?
Yes, for many courses. The guide sets a maximum of 24 years on 1 July of the admission year for many B.A. and B.Sc. courses. Physiotherapy has the same upper limit. Candidates who passed the qualifying exam from a madrasa get up to three years of relaxation. Regulators can set their own limits.
Frequently asked questions
Can I apply to more than one AMU course?
Yes, but you normally fill in a separate form for each course. Check the test timetable first, because AMU takes no responsibility if two of your tests clash.
Is there a test centre in Bihar?
Yes, for many courses. Patna is a centre for B.Tech. and for the combined B.Sc. test, for example. B.A. LL.B. was held only at Aligarh, Kolkata and Kozhikode in 2026, so check your course.
Can I change my course after submitting the form?
No. The guide says forms cannot be transferred from one course to another.
